Quaintly Oamaru

Set by the harbour, the lovely town of Oamaru beckoned a weekend visit down south. Staying as close to the coast as possible, we wandered Bushy Beach for two days in search of yellow-eyed penguins. These guys are incredibly shy and known to run away at the drop of a hat, but luckily our ninja skills and super silent stealth got us a few close encounters. There was also plenty of opportunity to stroll through the Victorian town for a proper tea, scope out the farmers’ market, be steampunked, and generally admire the pleasant charm of limestone buildings.
