With a group that’s considerably bigger than the one I worked with at NIH (not to mention largely female-dominated), my labmates are all pretty easygoing and incredibly friendly. As predicted, the work pace is at times slower, although I suppose that’s due to the constant relocating and running around we have to do now that the main building is under construction. All experiments are done temporarily in a small electronics warehouse with weekly meetings and seminars held in the Christchurch Women’s Hospital. After three months of making do and finding creative experimental solutions around limited work space, we’re finally slated to move into the renovated medical school building two weeks from now if all goes well.
On a side note, I’m lovin’ the lamb burger at Mickey D’s!
